KATHMANDU: Nepali national football team head coach Abdullah Almutairi said that he is not sure whether he will to return to Nepal or not.

Almutairi, who took Nepal to the final of SAFF Championship for the first time in 28 years, had earlier said that the final would be his last match with the Nepali national football team.

Nepal’s dream to lift the SAFF Championship title shattered after they suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of India in the final match of the regional tournament played at Male in Maldives on Saturday.

Talking to journalists after the match, Coach Almutairi, who was suspended from the touchline after being slapped to two yellow cards, said that the future is still uncertain.

“I don’t know about the future, let’s see what happens,” he said, “The only thing I need right now is the rest.”

“I will take rest for a few weeks and will think about the future. There could be a big surprise for Nepali supporters,” he said. The Nepali supporters have to wait for that, Almutairi added.

“Yes, I love my team. I love my players, my children, my family and all the staffers,” he said. “ I love all the Nepalis,” he further said.

Coach Almutairi said that he will always love Nepal as the Nepali supporters have been supporting him in every moment.

Saying that he would not apologise for facing a defeat in the final of the SAFF Championship, he said, “We lost the match today due to the lack of experience of the final.”

He urged all Nepali supporters to give the Nepali national football team a heroic welcome at the Tribhuvan International Airport on October if they love the Nepali football team.
