Subedi couple arrested in Lalita Niwas land grab case released after 21 days

KATHMANDU: The Subedi couple, who was arrested for their alleged involvement in the Lalita Niwas land grab case, have been released after 21 days in judicial custody.

Police arrested Ram Kumar Subedi and his wife Madhavi Subedi for playing a role of an agent to transfer the land of Baluwatar to the name of individuals.

The couple was released on Tuesday after the Kathmandu District Attorney Office sent the investigation report back to the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) citing lack of evidence against the defendants.

CIB Chief Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Dhiraj Pratap Singh said that they released the Subedi couple by taking permission from the Government Attorney Office.

There is a provision that a case should be filed in a court within 25 days after being arrested in the forgery case.

Earlier on January 6, the Kathmandu District Court had ordered the CIB to round up over 300 individuals on the charge of forging documents to grab the land Lalita Niwas.
