NC lawmaker Sunil Sharma arrested

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) lawmaker Sunil Sharma has been arrested on Thursday.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CIB) of the Nepal Police arrested Sharma today afternoon, informed NC Central member Ajay Babu Siwakoti.

Police nabbed Sharma from his residence, Golfutar.

The reason behind Sharma’s arrested has not been revealed yet.

During a recent meeting of the House of Representatives, Lawmaker Sharma had demanded the resignation of the Home Minister and Finance Minister, stating that they should be investigated in the 100 kg gold smuggling case.

NC Central member Siwakoti raised questions on the government through his Facebook regarding Sharma’s arrest.

Meanwhile, a source from the Home Ministry said that Sharma was arrested on the charge of forging documents related to his educational certificate.
