HoR meeting postponed as UML continues house obstruction (video)

KATHMANDU: A meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR), which was scheduled for today, has been postponed until Friday after the CPN-UML continued to obstruct the house.

UML lawmakers chanted slogans, demanding a high-level committee to look into the recent 100 kg gold smuggling case.

Speaker Dev Raj Ghimire urged the opposition lawmakers to cooperate and proceed with the House’s scheduled operations, but to no avail. As a result, he adjourned the House meeting until Friday.

Earlier on Tuesday afternoon, the UML had agreed to allow the house to run smoothly on the condition that their demands regarding the formation of a high-level probe committee to investigate the gold smuggling case would be met.

However, they continued to obstruct the House meeting that took place later that day, saying that the Home Minister had avoided the topic.
