RSP President Lamichhane wins HoR by-election from Chitwan-2

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane has been elected as the member of the House of Representatives (HoR) from the Chitwan-2 constituency.

Lamichhane won for the second time in a row in the constituency with a huge margin of 42,962 votes.

As per the final results of the by-election, Lamichhane secured 54,176 votes while his closest contender Jit Narayan Shrestha of the Nepali Congress (NC) received 11,214 votes.

Similarly, Ram Prasad Neupane of the CPN (UML) came into third position securing 10,936 votes.

Earlier in the November 20 election, Lamichhane had defeated Umesh Shrestha of the NC in the same constituency securing 49,300 votes. Shrestha had received 14,988 votes.

The House of Representatives (HoR) seat in this constituency had remained vacant after Lamichhane’s status as a lawmaker was stripped off by the Supreme Court on January 27. As a result of the vacancy, a by-election was held.
