Govt forms 5-member commission to investigate Yeti Airlines plane crash

KATHMANDU: The government has formed a five-member commission of inquiry to investigate the Yeti Airlines plane crash, which took place at Phewa Khoch in Pokhara on Sunday morning.

An emergency cabinet meeting held in Baluwatar today formed a 5-member inquiry commission under the coordination of former secretary Nagendra Ghimire. Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal earlier had called the emergency cabinet meeting after the incident.

According to Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel, the members include retired aviation expert Deepak Prakash Bastola, aviation expert Sunil Thapa, and aeronautical engineer Ekraj Jung Thapa from the aviation maintenance sector. Buddhisagar of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation is the joint secretary.

The commission has been given a deadline of 45 days to investigate the incident.

Meanwhile, the cabinet meeting has decided to give a public holiday tomorrow (Monday) to mourn the loss of lives in the Yeti Airlines plane crash.
