NTA directs internet service providers to block illegal trading sites like crypto, bitcoin

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Telecommunication Authority has directed the concerned authority to shut down websites, apps and online networks linked to illegal activities like cryptocurrency, bitcoin, hyper networking and online gambling among others.

Issuing a notice on Monday, the NTA directed the internet service providers of Nepal to block the websites, apps and online networks linked to illegal activities.

Saying that the trading using digital technologies including virtual currency and networking marketing among others, which are not given legal recognisation as monetary instruments in Nepal, are increasing in recent times, the NTA directed the internet service provider to close such sites.

The NTA warned that those found not abiding by the directive will be taken action as per the existing law.
