Ruling coalition decides to table Citizenship Bill as it is in Parliament

KATHMANDU: The ruling coalition has decided to table the Citizenship Bill, returned by the President, as it is in the Parliament again.

A meeting of the coalition held on Tuesday made the decision to this effect.

Law Minister Govinda Bandi, who participated in the meeting, said that the Bill would be endorsed through the previous process itself.

Earlier, President Bidya Devi Bhandari had returned the Bill to the Parliament for review.

“Respected President had used her constitutional rights. The government will table the Bill in the Parliament again as per the regulations of the House of Representatives,” he said.

Earlier, the government had endorsed the Citizenship Bill in the House of Representatives through a shortcut method in one day.
