Impeachment motion against CJ Rana sent to Impeachment Recommendation Committee

KATHMANDU : The impeachment motion filed against Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JB Rana was sent to the Impeachment Recommendation Committee on Sunday.

The motion was forwarded to the committee following a discussion in the House of Representatives six months after it was registered at the Parliament Secretariat.

The meeting passed the proposal to send the impeachment motion to the Committee by a majority.

The committee will now investigate the impeachment motion filed against Rana.

The Parliament, on March 6, had formed an 11-memeber recommendation committee to investigate the impeachment motion filed against Rana.

Earlier on February 13, lawmakers of the ruling Nepali Congress (NC), CPN (Maoist Centre) and CPN (Unified Socialist) had registered the impeachment motion against the Chief Justice.

Rana was automatically suspended from the post following the registration of the motion.
