UML obstructs National Assembly meeting

KATHMANDU: The main opposition CPN-UML obstructed the National Assembly meeting today as well.

The UML lawmakers obstructed the meeting shortly after the commencement of the meeting.

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba had called the meeting to table the annual reports of the National Dalit Commission for the fiscal years, 2019/20 and 2020/21.

The UML lawmakers stood from their seat and  started chanting slogans against the government. The lawmakers said that they would not allow the NA to move ahead with its business until their demands are met.

UML lawmakers continued their protest despite repeated calls by the NA Chairperson Ganesh Prasad Timilsina to let the Upper House continue with its business. After his efforts went in vain, he announced the postponement of the NA meeting until further notice.

CPN-UML lawmakers have been continuously obstructing the proceedings of both the houses of the parliament demanding action against the lawmakers expelled by their party.
