Chief Minister of Province 1 Bhim Acharya resigns in 68 days
BIRATNAGAR: Chief Minister of Province 1 Bhim Acharya has resigned from his post on Monday.
Addressing the Province Assembly meeting held this afternoon, Acharya announce to resign before the vote of confidence motion proceeded in the Provincial Assembly.
Acharya met Province Chief Somnath Adhikari ‘Pyasi’ and handed over his resignation letter today.
CPN-UML’s Acharya was certain to lose the vote of confidence since his government had already been reduced to a minority after the party split.
During the meeting, he mentioned that there will be continuous support from the CPN-UML no matter which government comes.
In Province 1, Nepali Congress(NC), CPN(Maoist Center), CPN (Unified Socialist) and the Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal stood against Acharya. The opposition alliance has nominated Rajendra Rai of the Unified Socialist party as its chief minister.
Acharya was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Province 1 on August 26 after the former Chief Minister Sher Dhan Rai had resigned from his post.
