MCC will not be endorsed in its current form: Foreign Minister Khadka

KATHMANDU: Minister for Foreign Affairs Narayan Khadka said that the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) will not be endorsed in its current form.

Speaking to journalists in Biratnagar on Saturday, he said that the MCC will be endorsed only after the common agreement of all the parties.

Minister Khadka said that the efforts are underway to forge consensus on the matter.

Earlier, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba had said that the MCC should be endorsed from the Parliament at the earliest.

He had said that there is nothing that should be ratified in the MCC. The Prime Minister had further said that some elements are spreading false rumours and misinformation about the MCC.

On the same occasion, the Foreign Minister said that there is no possibility of early elections.

He said that the decision about holding the elections will be finalised only after the consensus among the ruling parties.

Saying that there is a high chance that Nepali Congress will lead the Province 1 government,  Minister Khadka said that the Nepali Congress will take charge of Province 1 before the Prime Minister leaves for the UK to attend the world leader summit of the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 26).
