10yo child missing after falling into open drainage in Kapan found dead in Lalitpur

KATHMANDU: A 10-year-old boy, who had been missing after falling into an open drain in   Milan Chowk of Kapan, has been found dead on the bank of Bagmati River in Mahankal Rural Municipality, Lalitpur.

Ujjwal Bishwokarma went missing after he accidentally fell into the open drain while he was walking with his grandfather on Monday evening.

SP Kiran Bajracharya of the Metropolitan Police Range, Lalitpur, said that a police team deputed from the Range reached the site after a local informed them.

Though his face could not be recognised due to decomposition, he was identified by his school uniform, police said.

Police have called his family members to identify the body.

Inspector Bhagwati Timilsina of the Metropolitan Police Circle, Kapan said that they have been informed about the recovery of a body in Lalitpur yesterday.

“As the body has already been decomposed we have called the family members to identify the body,” Inspector Timilsina said.

She said that the body was found on the border of Lalitpur and Makwanpur districts yesterday evening.

Inspector Timilsina said that they informed Ujjwal’s family yesterday itself.

Police said that the body has been kept at the Lalitpur Hospital for postmortem.
