People warned against fake lottery scam

KATHMANDU: The Cyber Bureau of Nepal Police has urged members of the general public not to believe on any suspicious information on social media to avoid becoming a victim of fraud.

Some people and a group of scammers for the past few months have been sending messages randomly to people on Viber, WhatsApp and Imo among others saying that they have won an online lottery.

The messages lured innocent people into sending them a certain amount of money through banking or online channels to claim the lottery.

Saying that this kind of case has been increasing in Nepal recently, police have urged one and sundry to not respond to such messages.
