Madhav Nepal files application at EC to register new party CPN (Unified Socialist)

KATHMANDU: Madhav Kumar Nepal on Friday filed an application at the Election Commission to register a new party, proposing its name the CPN (Unified Socialist)

Leader Rajendra Pandey this afternoon registered the application at the Election Commission with the new name.

Talking to Nepal Press, Pandey said that the new name CPN (Unified Socialist) has been registered at the poll body. He said that the election symbol has not been finalised yet.

“The election symbol will be finalised when the Election Commission submits the registration certificate,” he said.

Earlier on August 18, Nepal along with other leaders of his faction had filed an application at the Election Commission to register a new party, CPN-UML Socialist.

The poll body, however, this morning said that the name was identical to CPN-UML and urged Nepal to come up with another name which does not match with other party.
