Chinese envoy congratulates Deuba 4 days after being appointed as PM

KATHMANDU: Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Hou Yanqi congratulated newly appointed Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on Friday.

Ambassador Hou Yanqi congratulated PM Deuba at the latter’s official residence in Baluwatar this afternoon.

During the meeting, the duo discussed issues of mutual interests and strengthening bilateral relations between Nepal and China. She also conveyed the Prime Minister the recent decision of China to provide Nepal with 1.6 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines as an addition grant assistance. 

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ambassador said that the northern neighbour is committed to assist Nepal in its fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and in development sectors.

Earlier, India and the United States had also congratulated Deuba on his appointment as the new executive head of the country.

PM Deuba, however, has not received best wishes and congratulations from his international counterparts yet.
