800,000 doses of Vero Cell arrive to Kathmandu from China

KATHMANDU: The first batch of vaccines purchased by the government of Nepal from China against coronavirus infection has arrived in Kathmandu. A Nepal Airlines flight carrying 800,000 doses landed at Tribhuvan International Airport at 6.30 this morning.

Under the non-disclosure agreement, Nepal has signed an agreement with China to purchase 4 million doses of vaccine. The price has not been disclosed.

According to Roshan Pokharel, chief expert of the Ministry of Health, the vaccine brought today weighs 13,000 kg.

According to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, vaccines will be delivered to Nepal from China every week in several phases. A few days ago, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had said that the import of the COVID  vaccine would continue.
