Landslide washes away 50 meters of paved road on Siddhartha Highway

RUPANDEHI: A landslide that occurred due to incessant rains has washed away 50 meters of paved road on the Palpa-Butwal section of the Siddhartha Highway. 

The landslide has washed away about 50 meters of the road near Tansen Municipality-8, Gaudepul of Palpa-Butwal road section. Shiva Khatri, information officer of the road division, said that the highway was washed away after the landslide. 

The Dumre River has overflowed and landslides have swept away the highway. This is the same place where the landslide had fallen last year. 

The highway has been blocked since Tuesday evening. The road division has not been able to work with heavy equipment as the rain has not stopped on the roads. Drivers and co-drivers of freight vehicles have been stranded since Tuesday when the highway was blocked.
