Private sector eager to play role in pandemic control

KATHMANDU: The private sector is showing eagerness to play a role to control the COVID-19 pandemic. The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), the largest umbrella organization of industrialists, has set up a ‘COVID-19 Help Center’ to fight against COVID-19.

The decision was taken at a recent meeting of FNCCI officials and concerned officials. The help center will be led by FNJ member entrepreneurs and will facilitate and coordinate the flow of services as per the demand of the people.

The COVID-19 Help Center has identified six areas of assistance and given the responsibility of its coordination to FNCCI Senior Vice President Chandra Dhakal. FNCCI Vice President Ram Chandra Shanghai and Jyoti Group Director Saurabh Jyoti have been given the responsibility of managing oxygen cylinders. 

Hemraj Dhakal and Rabin Shrestha have been given the responsibility for facilitating the hospitals and isolation centers. E. Deshbandhu Basnet (Ajit), Babukaji Karki and Dr. KY Gautam has been assigned the responsibility of Hospital Management.

Ranjit Raj Acharya will be in charge of the management of ambulances and isolation centres, Prabal Jung Pandey and Bhakta Hamal will be in charge of the medicine and medical equipment, while Jyotsana Shrestha, Binayak Shah and Binod Sapkota will be in charge of the hotel and air transport management.

The FNCCI has stated that the health assistance center is providing continuous support and coordination to the people who are facing problems and are seeking facilitation and coordination in the treatment of COVID-19.

The FNCCI has also urged the people to do their best to control the growing pandemic and ensure the health of the people.
