China will soon supply healthcare items to Nepal for pandemic control: Spokesperson Wang

BEIJING: China has announced that it will soon supply healthcare supplies to Nepal to control the coronavirus pandemic.

At a regular press conference held in Beijing on Friday by the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Wang Wenbin said that China would do everything possible to help Nepal fight the pandemic.

“All health supplies needed by Nepal against the COVID pandemic have been collected and we are ready to supply them soon,” said Wang. The spokesperson was asked about Chinese assistance to Nepal as the daily infection rate is very high and the country is facing a dire situation.

As neighbors and strategic partners, China and Nepal have extended hands of cooperation and a new chapter of friendship has begun between the two countries since the outbreak of the pandemic.

Spokesperson Wenbin also said that China is aware of the health crisis created in Nepal due to the second wave of COVID and is ready to provide necessary assistance.

At a recent virtual meeting of foreign ministers of four South Asian countries, including Nepal, the Chinese foreign minister announced that Nepal would provide much-needed health care.

“We believe that under the leadership of the Nepali people and the joint initiative of the parties, Nepal will be free from the pandemic and will return to normalcy,” Wang said.
