Prachanda’s demand rejected, UML-Maoist division will not be reviewed

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court’s order to split the unity between the CPN-UML and the CPN-Maoist will not be reviewed. A full bench headed by Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher Rana has ordered not to review the case.

Judges Tej Bahadur KC and Prakash Dhungana were present in the bench.

A joint bench of Justices Bam Kumar Shrestha and Kumar Regmi on 7th March. ruled that the party belonged to Rishi Kattel and asked former CPN (Maoist) Chairman KP Sharma Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda to go to the Election Commission with another name within 15 days or return to the former UML and UCPN (M).

Prachanda and Madhav Kumar Nepal, who were shocked by the Supreme Court’s decision, had consulted  Senior Advocate Shambhu Thapa who  assisted Prachanda for a judicial review.

Before going for review, Prachanda and Madhav Nepal had a discussion for three consecutive days at the house of a businessman in Koteshwar. Prachanda had gone to the court on Tuesday with a petition for judicial review.

He said that he had gone for the review on the same day with the consent of the former UML majority Madhav Nepal and Jhala Nath Khanal.With the decision of the full session not to review, the Communist Party of Nepal (History) has now been formed. Prachanda-Madhav’s wish that the court would return them to CPN  and remove KP Oli from power and the party will not be fulfilled.
