Government decides to close schools across the country for four days

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has decided to close educational institutions across the country for four days. An emergency meeting chaired by Minister Krishna Gopal Shrestha at the Ministry has decided to close all educational institutions. All teaching will be closed from Tuesday to Friday.

The Ministry said the decision to close the school was taken in view of the health risks due to increasing air pollution in recent days. Minister Shrestha informed that the educational institution had to be closed due to inclement weather. He explained, “All the educational institutions have to be closed as there is the possibility of having a negative impact of pollution on the health of millions of students”.

Education Secretary Ram Prasad Thapaliya, Science Secretary Dr Sanjay Sharma, Spokesperson and Joint Secretary of the Ministry Deepak Sharma, Joint Secretary Dr Hari Lamsal, Director General of Education and Human Resource Development Center Baikuntha Aryal were present at the meeting. Minister Shrestha had consulted Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli for school closure.
