Border Reopens

Nepal-India border reopened with restrictions

KATHMANDU: The Nepal-India border, which remained closed during the pandemic, has now been conditionally opened. According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, Indian nationals will still need permission to enter Nepal via land.

“We have ordered to open borders from Thursday following some new measures. Indian and other nationals would require to take a prior permit from the Home Ministry while a Nepali can enter by registering their health details.”, said Chandra Bahadur Budha, spokesperson for the Ministry of Home Affairs. He also added that this is only applicable to those traveling via land and entering from 28 border points.

The border had been closed since March 23 of last year.
