Manisha Koirala requests all Nepalese to pay respects to Prithvi Narayan Shah

KATHMANDU: Actress Manisha Koirala has called for the celebration of the 299th birth anniversary of nation-builder Prithvi Narayan Shah as National Unity Day.

Koirala, who is also a member of the National Unity Day celebration committee formed at the grassroots level, urged all Nepali citizens to pay respects to Prithvi Narayan Shah.

January 11th (Poush 77) is the 299th birth anniversary of Prithvi Narayan Shah, the founder of the Shah dynasty. Even though the celebration of Prithvi Jayanti as a National Unity Day has been abandoned, there has been increasing pressure from the people to celebrate Prithvi Jayanti as a holiday.
