Khagraj Adhikari appointed as Gandaki chief minister
POKHARA: CPN-UML Parliamentary Party leader Khagraj Adhikari has been appointed as the chief minister of Gandaki Province.
Province Chief Dilliraj Bhatta appointed Adhikari as the chief minister in accordance with Article 168 (2) of the Constitution.
Earlier, leader Adhikari had submitted the claim for the post of chief minister with the support of 31 lawmakers—22 of UML, eight of CPN (Maoist Centre) and one independent.
In the 60-member Province Assembly, one needs the support of 31 lawmakers to be appointed as the chief minister.
Nepali Congress had handed over a letter to the Province Chief stating that the process to appoint the chief minister was unconstitutional.
The Office of the Province Chief said that Adhikari will be administered the oath of office and secrecy at 3:30 pm.
