2021 – Unfolding the events impacting the world

Kathmandu: The coronavirus epidemic changed the world in 2020. Due to the epidemic, half of the world is still in limbo. The short term impact of this pandemic shall certainly persist in 2021. This year, the long term impact of lockdowns on the international economy is expected to normalize.

Large events were cancelled last year due to restrictions and lockdowns. Facebook and Google have already announced that they will not organize mass events until 2022. Most large scale programs were either cancelled or pushed to 2021. Just like the big events in 2020, they will all be on digital platforms.

“The epidemic has not ended globalization, but it has redefined globalization,” writes Farid Zakaria in his latest book, The World After the Epidemic. Aristotle says – Man is a social creature. This statement of Aristotle shows the optimism of the people.

Lenin said, “Sometimes time transforms in a week, what has not happened in 40 years.” Lenin’s political remark fits the epidemic-inflicted narrative.

Of course, the epidemic has taught us to understand and respect the little things, not the big ones. From 2020, the rescheduled sports and arts programs will now be on the Internet platform. Here are some of the events that could have an impact on the world this year.

January

• What will digital Davos look like? The annual World Economic Conference in Davos, Switzerland, will be limited to the ‘Davos Dialogue’. The organizers will set a safe time for an actual physical meeting. After January 25^th, Davos discussions will focus on how to shape the post-Covid world.

The heads of states and governments of the world’s largest economies will participate.

• The Sundance Film Festival on January 28th will be digital.
• On January 10th, Biden will be sworn in as the 46th President.
• Portugal will hold presidential elections on January 24th.
• The 63rd Grammy Awards will be held on January 31st.

• The Berlin Film Festival will be held from the 11th to the 21st of this month. The festival is expected to take a step towards gender equality. The best acting award will be given at the festival. This means that only the best lead role and the best supporting role will be awarded. There will be no male and female division.
• The Golden Globe Awards will be held on February 28th.

March

• In India, there will be a festival of Sikhs on March 29th. During the three-day festival, participants will demonstrate military exercises and combat skills. This festival is believed to have started from 1710 during the reign of Sikh Guru Gobind Singh. Participants sing religious songs and hymns.
• March 9th – A well-known case is being heard in the United States. The case against Elizabeth Holmes and her boyfriend Ramesh Balwani will start. Seven years ago, he committed to revolutionizing medical lab testing by opening a company called Theranos.

Media owner Rupert Murdoch and former US Secretary of Defense James Mattis are also involved in the issue.

April

• The world’s highest film award, the Oscars, will be distributed on April 25th. The award was postponed from February 28th due to a virus epidemic. Due to the virus, the screening of the film has been cancelled and more films will be screened and there will be a delay in opening nominations for the award.
• The Golden Globes in the first week of January will also be on February 28th.

• The first leg of the Tour de France will also take place in Denmark in 2022.
• A lunar eclipse will take place on June 10th.

July

• Tokyo will host the postponed Olympic Games from July 23rd to August 8th.

• On August 17th, Microsoft will close the Internet Explorer browser, which has been in use for 25 years.

October

• From October 1st to March 31st, 2022, for the first time in the 170-year history of the Expo, the World Expo is taking place in the Middle East. 190 countries of the world will participate in the exhibition.
• On October 1st, Russia will send a moon lander named Luna 25 to the moon. It will land at the moon’s south pole. This is the first step in Russia’s plan to send a manned spacecraft to the moon by 2030.
• Russia will hold a nationwide census on October 1^st.
• Japan will hold elections to the House of Representatives.
• On October 31st, NASA will launch the new Hubble Telescope.

November

• The UN Conference on Climate Change will be held in Scotland from November 1st to 12th. This meeting on climate change will be an international conference hosted by the UK.
• Joe Biden has been elected president of the United States since the conference moved. As soon as he arrives, the change in US climate change will mean that he will reverse Trump’s decision.
• The British colony of Barbados is set to remove Queen Elizabeth from the country’s head of state this month in an effort to remove remnants of the past. Sixteen countries still have the British Queen as their ceremonial ruler.
• NASA is launching a spacecraft to the moon this month.

December

• Art Basel in the United States will be back in Miami a year later. Last year it was placed online at the Miami Beach Convention Center. The center was recently turned into a reserve hospital for corona virus.
• A total solar eclipse will occur on December 4th.
• In 2021, the Chinese Communist Party will celebrate its 100th founding day.
• The North Korean Workers’ Party will hold its eighth general convention.
• By the end of 2021, India will launch Chandrayaan 2.
• China is preparing to build a large-scale space station this year, while the United States, China and the UAE will send robots to Mars.
• Since the beginning of 2021, a new species of coronavirus has appeared in the UK, and some countries are tightening up again and adhering to social distances. Some European countries and Gulf states are preparing to shut down. Japan, Australia, India, Nepal and some other countries have maintained the ban on international flights. Due to this, the use of digital platform can be expected to increase this year as well.
• According to CNN, the issue of mental health will be major in 2021. “We may have a vaccine for the disease, but we will not have a mental health vaccine,” said Lisa Carlson, the outgoing President of the US Department of Public Health. This will only exacerbate the economic crisis. The fear of disease is the same. This will disrupt our daily schedule. In fact, the crisis will deepen in 2021. ‘ The increasing use of isolation and technology has made it even more difficult for children and the elderly.
