Nepal’s foreign trade deficit increases by 25 percent

KATHMANDU: Nepal’s foreign trade deficit has increased by 25 present in the first 11 months of the current fiscal year.

According to the Customs Department, Nepal’s total foreign trade has reached Rs 19. 49 billion from June 2021 to May 2022.

During that period, Nepal imported goods worth Rs 1, 763. 22 billion from different countries and exported goods worth Rs 185. 83 billion.

In the first 11 months of the fiscal year 2020/21, the total foreign trade of Nepal was 154. 61 billion.

In the period, Nepal imported goods worth Rs 1, 383. 36 billion and exported goods worth Rs 121. 25 billion.

In the first 11 months of the last fiscal year, Nepal’s foreign trade deficit was Rs 1, 262. 11 billion.

According to the latest data of the Customs Department, Nepal’s total foreign trade has increased by 29.5 percent in the first 11 months of the current fiscal year as compared to the last fiscal year.

During that period, the total foreign trade deficit increases by 25 percent, imports by 27. 5 percent, exports by 53.3 percent and trade deficit by 25 percent.
