Province Assembly member resigns to become mayoral candidate

KATHMANDU: The main opposition CPN-UML Bagmati Province Assembly member Bijay Subedi tendered his resignation on Thursday.

He resigned from his post to file candidacy for the top post of Bharatpur, Chitwan.

Subedi submitted his resignation letter to Province Assembly Speaker Sanu Kumar Shrestha.

Earlier, the Election Commission had made a rule making it mandatory that local representatives must resign before filing nominations for the local level elections slated for May 13.
