SC quashes contempt of court cases filed against former Chief Justices

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court on Friday quashed two contempt of court cases filed against four former Chief Justices.

A division bench of Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher Rana and Justice Sapana Pradhan Malla quashed the cases filed against Min Bahadur Rayamajhi, Anupraj Sharma, Kalyan Shrestha and Sushila Karki this afternoon.

Advocate duo Lochan Bhattarai and Dhanjit Basnet filed two separate contempt of court cases against the four former Chief Justices on January 27.

The division bench of Chief Justice Rana and Malla acquitted the former Chief Justices saying that there was not adequate basis to charge them with contempt of court.
