Madhes Province Chief Minister Yadav loses trust vote

JANAKPURDHAM: Madhes Province Chief Minister Saroj Kumar has failed to secure a vote of confidence.

A total of 53 votes were cast against the trust motion while 50 provincial assembly members supported the chief minister in the Province Assembly meeting today.

A total of 103 lawmakers were present in the meeting.

Chief Minister Yadav, who is also the Parliamentary Party leader of the Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal, was supported by Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal, Nepali Congress and Rastriya Prajatantra Party.

The CPN-UML and the CPN (Maoist Centre) on May 12 and the CPN (Unified Socialist) on June 4 had withdrawn their support by quitting the government.

Yadav was appointed as the chief minister on January 11.
