Nepali cricket fans express outrage as Sandeep Lamichhane denied US visa

KATHMANDU: The Embassy of the United States of America in Nepal has come under criticism for its refusal to grant a visa to Nepal’s cricketer, Sandeep Lamichhane, on Wednesday.

Nepali cricket fans took to the US Embassy’s official Facebook page to express their dissatisfaction with the embassy’s decision, with many commenting ‘Justice for Sandeep Lamichhane’.

Earlier today, Lamichhane had applied for a visa at the US Embassy to participate in the upcoming T20 World Cup to be held in the United States and the West Indies.However, the US Embassy denied him the visa.

Following this, Lamichhane apologized to his fans through Facebook.

He wrote, “The US Embassy did it again, just like they did back in 2019. They denied my visa for the T20 World Cup in the USA and West Indies. Unfortunate. I apologize to all the well-wishers of Nepal cricket.”
