Former Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun’s son Dipesh Pun sent to jail

KATHMANDU: Former Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun’s son and General Secretary of the student wing of the CPN (Maoist Centre) Dipesh Pun has been sent to jail in connection with the cooperative fraud.

The Rupandehi District Court had ordered the police administration to release Pun on a bail of Rs 400, 000 during the hearing held today.

But Pun was sent to the Bhairahawa-based district prison after he failed to post the bail amount.

A single bench of Judge Dr Shree Prakash Upreti had issued an order to sent Om Prakash Gurung to the jail and release Pun on a bail of Rs 400, 000.

Twenty eight persons made defendants in the case.

The court has demanded bail amount of Rs 200, 000 from Roshani Gurung and Nita Thapa each, Rs 1.8 million from Durga Chapagain Pandey, Rs 435, 000 from Deepak Neupane, Rs 400, 000 from Dipesh Pun and Rs 1 million from Nabin Achhami.

Shiva Prasad Gaudel heard the case on behalf  Dipesh Pun, Krishna Prasad Pokharel on behalf of Roshani Gurung, Khem Bahadur, Lal Bahadur Basnet and Hemraj Sharma on behalf of Nita Pun, Shiva Gaudel on behalf of Durga. Chapagain Pandey, Hom Raj Panta, Deepak Neupane and Jokh Bahadur Khatri on behalf of Nabin Achhami.

The cooperative victims had started staging a demonstration by forming a struggle committee saying the Supreme Cooperatives have embezzled more than Rs 1 billion.
