Khagraj Adhikari sworn in as Gandaki CM, Deepak Manange appointed as minister again

POKHARA: Gandaki Province Chief Minister Khagraj Adhikari took the oath of office and secrecy on Sunday.

Province Chief Dilliraj Bhatta administered the oath of office and secrecy to Adhikari amidst a function this afternoon.

Adhikari was appointed as the chief minister with the support of 31 Province Assembly members—22 of CPN-UML, eight of CPN (Maoist Centre) (including Speaker) and one independent (Deepak Manange).

In the 60-member Province Assembly, one needs the support of 31 members to be appointed as the chief minister.

The Nepali Congress, however, is planning to move the court saying that Adhikari was appointed as the chief minister unconstitutionally.

Along with him, Hari Bahadur Chuman of the CPN (Maoist Centre) and Rajib Gurung (Deepak Manange) also took the oath of office and secrecy.
