Court extends remand of Mahara by four days

KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu District Court on Monday extended the custody of former Speaker and CPN (Maoist Centre) Vice-Chairman Krishna Bahadur Mahara, who was arrested in a gold smuggling case, by four days for investigation.

After the arrest, the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) produced Mahara before the court on Monday.

He was nabbed this morning.

Mahara was held after a high-level commission formed to investigate the gold smuggling recommended the government to file a case against Mahara for being involved in the gold smuggling.
