NA election: NC candidate Sitaula secures victory from Koshi Province

BIRATNAGAR: Nepali Congress candidate Krishna Prasad Sitaula has emerged victorious in the National Assembly election from Koshi Province.

He defeated CPN-UML-Rastriya Prajatantra Party candidate Uddhav Paudel.

Sitaula, however, did not get votes from the local level after two province assembly members cast their votes in favour of Paudel by crossing the floor.

He got only 109 votes from the local level.

Sitaula was made the candidate from Koshi Province with an intention to make the National Assembly chairperson.

Among the province assembly members, 45 cast their ballots in favour of Sitaula while 47 cast their votes for Paudel.

The ruling coalition has 47 lawmakers in Koshi Province Assembly. The RPP and UML, however, have 45 lawmakers. One vote cast in the election was invalid.
