Lamichhane sentenced to 8 years in prison for rape

KATHMANDU: The District Court, Kathmandu has handed down an eight-year jail sentence to cricketer Sandip Lamichhane, after being proven guilty of rape.

A single bench of Justice Sishir Raj Dhakal also slapped a fine of Rs 3000, 000 and ordered Lamichhane to compensate the victim with Rs 200, 000.

After a complaint was filed against Lamichhane for raping a minor on September 6, 2022, he was arrested from Tribhuvan International Airport on October 6, 2022.
