Ghale group has already smuggled 138 kg gold into Nepal, concludes probe committee

KATHMANDU: The probe committee concluded that the group arrested with 14 kg gold has already smuggled 138 kg gold into Nepal.

Chandra Bahadur Ghale was apprehended with 14 kg gold from the Tribhuvan International Airport a few weeks ago.

Making public the report, the committee said that of the 138 kg smuggled into Nepal, police have managed to seize only 14 kg gold.

According to the committee, Ghale, who had been living in Dubai, used to smuggle the gold in collusion with an Indian national.

It has been found that Ghale, Chandra and Krishna Kumar Shrestha brought the gold being porters.

The committee claimed that Ghale used to use Dan Bahadur Gurung to manage everything at the airport and assign the responsibility of taking the gold out of airport to Radha Krishna Shrestha, a staffer at the Civil Aviation Authority, office assistant Lek Bahadur Tamang, Ramesh Deula, plumber Sher Bahadur Basnet and office assistant Anil Shrestha.
