Government is serious about Ncell sale row: PM Dahal

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal said that the government has taken the Ncell sale dispute seriously.

During a meeting of the State Management and Governance Committee of the Parliament held on Tuesday, the Prime Minister said that since the news about the Ncell sold 80 percent of its stake at a low transaction value came to light, he has taken the matter very seriously.

Prime Minister Dahal said that he was in Dubai to take part in the COP28 conference when Axiata, the Malaysian telecom giant, was preparing to sell 80 percent of its share in Ncell.

“I heard the news in Dubai and returned the next day. Then I gave directions to the Communications Ministry and Telecommunications Authority. I have taken the initiatives various seriously as the head of the government. A probe committee has also been formed under the leadership of Tankamani Sharma to investigate the issue,” he said.
