Anti-republic campaigner Durga Prasain under house arrest

KATHMANDU: Police administration has made a new strategy targeting the further protest programmes of anti-republic campaigner Durga Prasain.

Police personnel have been deployed at the Bhaktapur Thimi-based residence of Prasain.

A Special Task Force (STF) of Nepal Police has surrounded Prasain’s house from all sides.

According to a source, police are preparing to not allow him to go outside the house.

Police this morning have also arrested some supporters of Prasain.

Organising a press conference in Kathmandu on Thursday, Prasain announced that they would stage demonstrations at Tinkune in Kathmandu from today and extend the protest programmes across the country.

He also warned that they would move forward in a ‘Sri Lankan style’.

Meanwhile, issuing a statement on Friday, the District Administration Office, Kathmandu said that its attention has been drawn towards the additional protest programmes announced by anti-republic campaigner Durga Prasain under the ‘Nagarik Bachau Andolan’.

Kathmandu District Administration Office Assistant Chief District Officer Rabindra Prasad Acharya has warned of taking action as per the law against the people responsible for disturbing peace in the society and indulging in inappropriate activities.
