UN Secretary General Guterres pays courtesy call on President Paudel

KATHMANDU: United Nations (UN) Secretary General Antonio Guterres paid a courtesy call on President Ram Chandra Paudel at Sheetal Niwas on Sunday.

During a meeting with President Paudel, he discussed the effects of climate change in Nepal.

Saying that Nepal has given highest priority and importance to the United Nations, Nepal’s development partner, Paudel praised the support and contribution of the United Nations in achieving the socio-economic development goals of Nepal.

Earlier, he held separate meetings with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, main opposition CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Purna Bahadur Khadka and Foreign Minister NP Saud.

The United Nations Secretary General arrived in Nepal on a four-day official visit at the invitation of Prime Minister Dahal on Saturday night.
