Koshi Province Chief Minister Kedar Karki wins trust vote (With video)

KATHMANDU: Koshi Province Chief Minister Kedar Karki secured a vote of confidence in the Provincial Assembly on Wednesday.

In the 93-member Province Assembly, Karki got 86 votes while five assembly members stood against it. A lawmaker of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party was absent during the voting.

Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, CPN (Maoist Center), CPN (Unified Socialist) and Janata Samajbadi Party gave a vote of confidence to Karki, who was appointed as the chief minister in accordance with Article 168 (5) of the Constitution.

The UML has 40 lawmakers including the deputy speaker, the Congress 28, the Maoist Center 13, the CPN (Unified Socialist) four and Janata Samajbadi Party one in the Koshi Province.

Karki was appointed as the chief minister with the support of eight lawmakers of the Shekhar Koirala faction of the Nepali Congress and 39 of the CPN-UML on Saturday.
