Docs express disagreement with govt’s two-pt decision, take to streets today also

KATHMANDU: Doctors have staged a demonstration at Maitighar Mandala in the Capital today also, expressing disagreement with the two-point decision made by the government.

A discussion held between the representatives of the doctors and Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayankaji Shrestha and Health Minister Mohan Bahadur Basnet in the Home Ministry on Tuesday had made a two-point decision.

According to which, the provisions pertaining to the offenses and punishment made by the amendment of Act 2066 on the safety of health workers and health institutions will be kept in a way that everyone can see them.

Similarly, the Home Ministry said that a directive will be issued to the concerned authority to take action against those involved in misbehaving and attacking the doctors.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Health and Population on Wednesday had urged all health institutions to resume the services by pasting the notice.

The doctors, however, said that they would not stop the protests until those who attacked the medical practitioners are brought to book.
