Health workers including 78 doctors of Hetauda Hospital resign en masse, shut down all services except emergency

HETAUDA: Health workers including 78 doctors working at the Hetauda Hospital have resigned en masse demanding action against those involved in attacking Dr Bikash Thapa and Dr Prashant Bidari of Sancho Hospital in Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City-1, Makwanpur.

They have also started a protest shutting down all the services except for emergency care.

Saying that the police have not been able to bring the culprits to justice even after 48 hours of the incident, the representatives of all the organizations affiliated to the Nepal Medical Association through a letter to the Chief District Officer of Makwanpur said that they decided to stage a protest from today halting all the services except emergency.

A group of youths of Padam Pokhari, Hetauda assaulted the two doctors by entering into the hospital saying that there was sheer negligence in the treatment of Rajesh Pradhan (41) of Hetauda-12 who died due to dengue a month ago.

Utsav Chaulagain, an official at the Hetauda Hospital, said that the doctors and the health workers have resigned en masse demanding security.

Amid widespread pressure, police have arrested the deceased’s wife Rama, son Rohit, daughter Ramita and nephew Anup Pradhan on the basis of CCVT footage for attacking the doctors.
