One more person nabbed in connection with recent gold haul

KATHMANDU: One more person has been arrested in his connection with the recent gold smuggling case.

A team of the Department of Revenue Investigation had on July 19 seized 60.716 kg gold from Tribhuvan International Airport.

Shiva Kumar Sarraf of Bara district has been arrested, said Deputy Inspector General of Police, Kuber Kadayat.  A team of the Central Investigation Bureau arrested Sarraf on Thursday night.

With this, the number of people arrested in the connection with the gold smuggling scam has reached 27, said police.

Meanwhile, police have made public a person arrested on the charge of his involvement in cheating Rs 1.095 million sending a fake receipt online.

The suspect has been identified as Sushan Ghimire (22) of Godavari Municipality-7 in Lalitpur, currently living at Gothatar of Kathmandu, said SP Rabindra Regmi, spokesperson of the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, Minbhawan.

Ghimire has been sent to the District Police Range, Teku, for further investigation. RSS
