Radha Krishna Kandel elected as UML’s Lumbini chairman

RUPANDEHI: Radha Krishna Kandel has been elected as the chairman of CPN-UML Lumbini Province Committee.

The election was held for the leadership on Tuesday.

Kandel, who was ahead since the beginning of the counting of votes, defeated his closest contender Hari Rijal by two votes.

Kandel received 479 votes while Rijal obtained 477 votes.

Similarly, Bhoj Prasad Shrestha of Rupendehi has been elected as the vice-chairman.

Out of a total 1,005 representatives, only 965 cast their votes.

The elected candidates took the oath of office and secrecy this morning.

Kandel was supported by party Vice-Chairman Bishnu Paudel while Rijal by General Secretary Shankar Pokharel.
