Nepal beat Qatar to reach semi-finals

KATHMANDU: Nepal have qualified for the semi-finals of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Asia Region Qualifier by defeating Qatar on Monday.

In the match played in Bangi of Malaysia, Nepal defeated Qatar by nine wickets to reach semi-finals.

This is Nepal’s fourth consecutive win in the tournament.

Earlier, Nepal had thrashed hosts Malaysia by five runs, Bahrain by 10 wickets and Bhutan by three wickets.

Nepal reached the target of 75 runs in just 10.3 overs losing one wicket.

In Nepal’s win, Kajal Shrestha scored highest 32 runs off 18 balls hitting one four.

Similarly, Indu Barma contributed 20 runs off 12 balls hitting three fours and Sita Rana Magar scored unbeaten 17 runs of 23 balls.

After winning the toss, Nepal invited Qatar to bat first. Qatar scored 74 runs in 20 overs losing seven wickets.

Indu Barma of Nepal claimed three wickets and Puja Mahato and Kabita Joshi took one wicket each.

Nepal will play their last group match against the UAE on Wednesday.
