Speaker Ghimire starts talks with chief whips of parties to end House impasse

KATHMANDU: Speaker Devraj Ghimire has started a discussion with the chief whips and whips of major political parties to seek ways to end the ongoing House obstruction.

Chief whips and whips of Nepali Congress and CPN (Maoist Centre) from the ruling coalition and CPN-UML, Rastriya Swatantra Party and Rastriya Prajatantra Party from the opposition parties are taking part in the meeting.

The meeting of the House of Representatives has been called for 1 pm today.

The UML has been obstructing the Parliament demanding formation of a high-level probe committee to investigate the gold smuggling case.

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal is also holding a meeting with nationally recognized parties to remove House obstruction.
