Supreme Court upholds Resham Chaudhary’s life sentence (Full text)

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday upheld the Dipayal High Court’s decision to sentence Resham Chaudhary, a leader of the Nagarik Unmukti Party, to life imprisonment.

As a result, Chaudhary, who is currently serving a life imprisonment sentence for his involvement in the Tikapur incident, has been sentenced to life imprisonment.

A joint bench of Justices Ananda Mohan Bhattarai and Nahakul Subedi refused to acquit Chaudhary while delivering the verdict today afternoon.

The bench, on the other hand, has granted acquittal to Sitaram Chaudhary and Gangaram Chaudhary, who were previously sentenced to life imprisonment in the same incident.

Chaudhary was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Kailali District Court for his involvement in the Tikapur incident, a decision that was subsequently upheld by the Dipayal High Court later.
