Lumbini CM Giri fails to secure vote of confidence

RUPANDEHI: Lumbini Province Chief Minister Lila Giri failed to secure a vote of confidence on Monday.

A majority of lawmakers rejected Giri’s vote of confidence proposal tabled during a meeting of the Province Assembly held this afternoon.

Giri received 33 votes in his favor, while 53 votes were cast against him.

Lumbini Province has a total of 87 lawmakers.

CPN (UML) leader Lila Giri was appointed the Chief Minister of Lumbini Province on January 11.

It has been reported that preparations are underway for the establishment of a new provincial government, which will be led by Dilli Bahadur Chaudhary of the Nepali Congress.
