Man attempts to set himself on fire in front of Parliament building

KATHMANDU: A man attempted to set himself on fire in front of the Parliament building in New Baneshwor on Friday.

The man tried to commit self-immolation by pouring petrol on his body. He was immediately rescued by the police.

The identity of the man has not been disclosed.

According to preliminary investigations, the man attempted self-immolation due to family issues, said Dan Bahadur Karki, Chief of the Kathmandu Police Range.

A few months ago, a 36-year-old man set himself on fire in front of the Parliament building. He died during the course of treatment.
